Bio

David joined the German Department at Yale in 2025. He received his B.A. from Bard College, where he majored in German Studies and wrote his dissertation on the poetics of Peter Handke, examining texts such as Handke’s Nachmittag eines Schriftstellers, Ich bin ein Bewohner des Elfenbeinturms, Die Lehre der Sainte-Victoire, and Adalbert Stifter’s Bergkristall. At Yale, while continuing his work on Handke, he aims to explore modern literary and philosophical topics and work at the intersection of German and Hungarian literary and cultural traditions. In Hungary, David was trained as a painter.
