Lea Jouannais Weiler

Léa Jouannais Weiler is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at Yale University and currently a Franz Werfel Fellow at the University of Vienna. Her research focuses on Austrian literature and film. Supervised by Fatima Naqvi and Rüdiger Campe, her dissertation examines notions of excess and superfluity in the works of Robert Walser, Mela Hartwig, Elfriede Jelinek, and Thomas Bernhard. Additional research interests include the writings of Jean Améry and their influence on memory studies, as well as mystical modes of writing in contemporary French and German literature. Before joining Yale, she completed an M.A. in literary theory at the École Normale Supérieure and an M.A. in comparative literature at Université Paris 7 – Diderot.
