German at Yale comprises two major educational programs, the Graduate Program and the Undergraduate Program, with significant interaction between them. Graduate students often teach language courses and undergraduates often take graduate level classes, and both participate in lectures, films, and conferences in the department. Our Graduate program is known for rigorous study of German-language traditions of literature, media, history, and critical thought. Our undergraduate program is known for its excellence in language training and intercultural exchange.
