Olivia Gilbert

Before starting her PhD at Yale in 2025, Olivia Gilbert studied German literature, philosophy, politics and cultural studies in Walla Walla (Washington state), Berlin and Paris. Olivia has studied the theories and the representational potential of mourning. Recently, she has worked on affective strategies in post-Enlightenment hermeneutics and other modes of reading texts; specifically, on Schleiermacher’s theory of translation as a radicalization of the Jewish question.
