Yue Li
Areas of Interest
18th-century German literature and culture, with a particular focus on the theories and practices of German theater
Bio
Yue completed her undergraduate studies in Qingdao and Bremen and earned her master’s degree in German Literature at Heidelberg University in 2019. From 2020 to 2022, she worked as a research fellow at the Institute for German Literature at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. In her doctoral thesis, she investigates Goethe’s “improvised” works, which exhibit a strong affinity for theatricality. By considering these works as an experimental field, she elucidates the close connection and interplay between the development of literature and theater, as well as the conventional contrasting understandings of Goethe during the Sturm-und-Drang period and Goethe in the classical period.
Yue is visiting the Yale German Department as a Baden-Württemberg Exchange Scholar.
