Derek Wiebke

Derek Wiebke joined the Yale German Department in 2020. He received his BA in German, Scandinavian & Dutch from the University of Minnesota and his MA in German Literature and Culture from the University of Washington where he wrote his MA paper on environmental disaster in Elfriede Jelinek’s play Kein Licht. Derek’s fields of interest include 19th-21st century German and Austrian literature, environmental humanities, postdramatic theater, and Jewish intellectual history. At Yale, Derek is also interested in working on contemporary German and Austrian film and media.
